Everyone in the world is stark raving mad, except me and thee.

And I am not that sure about thee.

Advice is a form of nastalgia,
dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal,
wiping it off,
painting over the ugly parts
and recycling it for more than it's worth

Just came across this again:
"God is a comedian playing to an audience that is afraid to laugh" (Voltaire).
"That's right!" shouted Vroomfondel, "we demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!"

I know some people that are more than just afraid, I think they're terrified and won't admit it.
I think many people assume religion is beyond their understanding, so they just play it safe and accept it.
And I'm glad we're in a time and place where we can laugh at it. Voltaire and others were quite brave.

Voltaire's book 'Candide' was a fun book for me to read, it was ripe with sarcasm and I think it was written in the 1700's. What a time that must have been.

"No man ever believes that the Bible means what it says; he is always convinced that it says what he means."
