"That's right!" shouted Vroomfondel, "we demand rigidly defined areas of doubt and uncertainty!"

The Supreme Court of Canada upholds Khadr's release.

If I were a betting person, when Khadr was transferred to Canada, I would have bet that after a couple of years Khadr would have been released and the Government of Canada would have gone through the motions of opposing the release.

Well he was in jail here for over 2.5 years, and the Canadian Government have done a little more than going through the motions.

Watched (on and off) this documentary Prisoners of the Absurd.

It is about 22 Uyghurs who got caught up in the Afghanistan mess. Even when identified as being non-combatants they could not get released.

Guantanamo is a blight on what was once United States' good name. Every American and for that matter every voter in the western world should watch this documentary. It probably is on a channel near you now. Taxes that went to Canada's National Film board was well spent here.

Omar released even more.

I wonder if it made the mainstream news in the US and if so what was the reaction?

I've been at poker tables in Las Vegas this winter, and the only talk I hear is the occasional amazed comment about a Trump comment or a slur about Hillary. Other than that, it is small talk about sports, weather, pollen allergy problems and of course lots of talk about lucky and unlucky streaks.
Although, I don't watch the news so I wouldn't know about the media's coverage.

Compensation for Omar

I think this is fair to some degree we might quibble about the amount. Should the US put it its share?
