Letting go of religion

Here you can say Hi to all our members - and let us know a little about yourself.

Letting go of religion

Postby Purplevision » Mon Sep 22, 2014 7:14 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm chasing hope, although, I don't think that statement is true. It's just a name.

Today I consider myself Agnostic, although I am still trying to let go of my religious baggage.

I'm not here to knock anyone. Neither am I here for debating. I am here to explore different points of view. And, I look forward to getting to know everyone better.

Welcome Chasing Hope,
Its nice for me to hear someone say they're agnostic. I don't meet many people that say that.
And exploring different points of view is a pleasure of mine too.
Best wishes, Gil.

Welcome Chasinghope

We are just a small group of agnostics here.
Each have travelled a different path to that label and often move on.

I must admit I like our vision statement

All the best.

Indeed - a most hearty welcome. And I hope you find much worthy of musing over among the tidbits scattered around the various threads... :)

Thanks for the welcome everyone. I've been sick for the last few days, but, I've managed to read bits and pieces throughout the site so far. I'll probably be more of a lurker on here (I'm hardly intelligent enough to add to the conversations and feel clueless about most of what I read), but, I appreciate being able to benefit from everyone's knowledge and points of view.

See y'all around.

Please don't say that. I'm sure you can add a lot to the conversation. I often look foolish on here, but it doesn't matter. It's about looking for answers and sharing ideas and thoughts, and if anybody tries to make you feel bad for sharing your true thoughts it's their problem not yours. It takes guts to go against the majority. It's not easy, but I think it's a gift to be strong enough to question things that most say shouldn't ever be questioned.

(Please don't let my occasional passionate venting scare you off either. I often get wrapped up in drama, but my intentions are good hearted.)

However, if you are a theist who just wants to hone their debating skills, then just be honest about it. We may not agree, but we are not ghouls out to get people.

Thanks, Kerri.

I'm not a theist, though. And, I really don't want to debate. However, I do come from a Christian Fundamentalist background - Calvinism to be specific. It's been a long journey to Agnosticism - but I don't have any peace about it. So, I'm at a place where I'm still seeking answers, and exploring different opinions/points of view. I don't feel like I have much to add to the conversations here as I don't have any particular persuasion, and feel more or less really confused :?
